Ex Minister Of Interior, Iheanacho Dumps PDP For APGA

Capt Emmanuel Iheanacho, Nigeria’s former Minister of Interior and a governorship aspirant in Imo State has defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Iheanacho left the PDP for APGA on Monday 17th February, 2014. He reportedly picked up APGA membership card at his Emekuku Ward in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State
Before his defection, the sailor had serially denied allegations that he would leave the PDP. Several media houses, including this blog had speculated that Iheanacho was bent on leaving the PDP for APGA where he expects to realize his political aspiration.
Iheanacho is one of the early birds for the Imo governorship race having announced his intention to succeed Governor Rochas Okorocha in 2012.
Iheanacho formally bade farewell to the PDP at his Emekuku country home in Owerri North LGA where he formally registered with APGA at his Emekuku ward 1 with registration No, 3790 amid pomp and pageantry.
The former Minister, who was welcomed into the APGA family after fulfilling all party formalities, told the crowd that he was compelled to abandon his former party for APGA in order to enable him contribute his quota towards the alleviation of the plight of the poor and the downtrodden.
According to him, he was not in the governorship race to amass wealth or for any form of personal aggrandisement, but to positively touch the lives of the poor.
He also promised to bring his wealth of experience from the private sector to bear in his office as a governor, lamenting that such basic necessities as healthcare delivery services, qualitative education, shelter had continued to elude the people due to fraud.
“I joined the APGA because it is the right vehicle to bring dividends of democracy for our people and I want our people to be cake bakers and not cake sharers and as a successful businessman, if elected governor, I will continue to do those things I know how to do best”.

Iheanacho blamed PDP for the legion of problems rocking the state, regretting that its 12 years of administration in the state was a disaster that pauperised the people.
