Allegations of Graft: Samuelson Reminds EFCC To Quiz Imo Speaker

SAMUELSON

Social crusader, Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha has reminded the Economic and Fianancial Crimes Commission, EFCC to arrest the Speaker, Imo House of Assembly, Rt Hon Benjamin Uwajumuogu over allegations of  fraud.

In a letter to the commission and made available to this blog, he wondered why the Imo Speaker  is freeman despite the weight of allegations against him. Samuelson who served the Speaker as Special Adviser, Media, has consistently waged a war against the Speaker, alleging that the Speaker is covering up  fraudulent activities perpetrated by his aides in his office.

The Speaker has denied the claims, describing Samuelson' s allegations as false and mere rambling propounded by the Speaker's political foes.

The Imo House of Assembly constituted a special investigative panel to look into the allegations and invited samuelson and others. Sameulson did not show up, describing the committee as a kangaroo one

Samuelson's  letter to EFCC reads:
6th May, 2014

The Chairman
Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission, EFCC
No 5 FOMELLA Street
Off Adetokumbo Ademola Crescent
Wuse II-Abuja, Nigeria

          Sir,

REMINDER LETTER  TO EFCC:
FRAUD IN IMO SPEAKER’S OFFICE

On the 18th of February 2014, I officially petitioned your commission
on the fraudulent activities going on, at the office of the speaker of
Imo State House of Assembly. See enclosed.
Although investigations into my petition started, it later lost steam
and the people of Imo State have wondered why. They are now
questioning why such a high profile petition should not be treated by
your commission despite the very wide publicity it has received
locally, nationally and internationally.

However, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha
has on his own, during his recent Local Government Assessment tours
confirmed  that indeed the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly,
Rt. Hon Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu and his aides, Mr. Kodichi
Anamekwe ( His Chief of staff) and Mr. Dan Orji. (His Special  Adviser
on inter-governmental matters) are involved in massive and monumental
road contract scams running into billions of naira in the state, as I
rightfully stated in my petition of 18th February 2014 to your
commission. While the Governor confirmed that Mr Kodichi Anamekwe
pocketed the sum of N18 Million and N70 Million meant for the
construction of ORIENDU – NKWODURUKWU road and other roads in EHIME
MBANO LGA through his company, FALCON ENGINEERING LTD, Mr. Dan Orji
pocketed the sum of N50.4 Million meant for the construction of roads
in Ihitte/ Uboma LGA. These aides of the speaker are also his fronts
whom he uses to defraud the state. Imo Speaker has other fronts as
well. His personal company is WERDIS LTD. which he uses to execute
road contract scam projects across the state.
Mr. Chairman, may I also inform you that Honourable members of Imo
State House of Assembly have confirmed that Speaker Uwajumogu pay
rolled over 120 aides out of whom 90 of them are ghost workers, who
earn salaries without working for it at the Speakers Office. These
Honourable members also confirmed that an 85 year old woman and mother
to Imo Speakers Chief of staff, Madam Monica  Anamekwe is the head  of
the ghost workers. All these I mentioned in my petition dated 18th
February 2014.
Other areas of frauds and scams going on at the Imo Speakers office
include (1) Financial Assistance Scams (2) General Supply Scams (3)
Stipends for correspondents Scams (4) Money Laundering etc. With the
proceeds of the scams and frauds, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka
Uwajumogu has acquired properties across the country, and I stated
these properties and their locations in my petition dated 18th
February 2014.
The EFCC was established by the Federal Government to fight and
prosecute fraudsters and criminals such as Rt. Hon. Benjamin
Uwajumogu, so that our country Nigeria will be a better place. One
therefore begins to wonder why the EFCC is silent over this matter.
Honestly, Mr. Chairman, the silence of your commission over this
monumental fraud going on in Imo State, despite being officially
informed is worrisome. Imo citizens and Nigerians have started
questioning the integrity, credibility and indeed ability of the EFCC
to truly fight and expose fraudulent activities such as this one
involving Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu and his aides.

As a way to give himself soft landing, Imo Speaker had on the 27th of
March 2014 set up a kangaroo panel made up of his cartel members who
are also involved in the road contract scams going on in the state.
The committee members invited me to appear before them on the 4th of
April 2014, but I informed them that my petition was already with your
commission and that the panel was belatedly set up after the Executive
Governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha had confirmed some of my
allegations. See my enclosed response.

As I forward this reminder letter to you, Imo citizens and Nigerians
are eagerly waiting for your positive reactions vis-à-vis: arrest of
the speaker, his detention and eventual prosecution.

Let us join hands together to free this country from criminals and
fraudsters such as Rt. Hon Benjamin Chukwemeka Uwajumogu so that our
society would be better.

Please accept my best and warmest regards.

Former Senior Special Assistant on Media
Immediate Past Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties.
