Rochas In Dilemma Over 2015, Imo Governor Yet To Decide On Political Ambition

Despite his public exhibition of political strength and character, Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is in dilemma over which office he will aspire for in 2015.

The Governor has been in the midst of speculations on his political future as he is said to be undecided if he should seek for  re election as governor of the State or go for the vice presidential ticket of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

His desperation to be APC vice presidential candidate to a northern presidential candidate manifested when he opposed the ambition of the first executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu to be the APC national Chairman.

Okorocha was said to have colluded with the APC stakeholders in the South- South to produce the party chair to pave way for his ambition. This Blog had exclusively reported behind the scene moves  orchestrated by the Imo Governor which contributed to truncate Dr. Onu’s ambition.

However, Okorocha's aspiration to be VP  on the APC platform may have run into murky waters following the Imo State Government proposed policy  to give identity cards to northerners residing in Imo State as measure to check the infiltration of Boko Haram members in the State.

His action attracted the ire of the senate which condemned the action in its entirety. And to further worsen his political ordeal in the APC, it is believed that the move by the senate minority leader, Suileman Kumalia who raised the matter on the red floor of the senate was a direct punch at the Imo Governor who is believed to be at loggerheads with powerful political forces in the APC.

Political analysts described Okorocha's political ordeal in the APC as pay back time for moving against some huge forces in the party. Aside playing a key role to truncate Dr. Onu's ambition, the Imo Governor was fingered to be involved in a political cold war with one of the pillars of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Both Tinubu and Okorocha are said to be eying the APC Vice Presidential ticket.

Also his quest to seek for a second term as Imo State governor may end up in smoke if he fails to make certain technical political adjustments.

Pro Okorocha loyalists are said to be uncomfortable  with the possibility of the PDP in the State to  take advantage of “federal might” to overrun Rochas at the 2015 polls.  This Blog observed that most PDP members in Imo State openly boast how they will overrun the Okorocha's party with the aid of "federal might"

Apart from this, the dwindling political value of the APC in the State is causing serious concern to the political camp of the Governor  thus prompting speculations in local newspapers in the State that the governor may dump the APC where leads the Governor's forum for another political party.Unconfirmed reports said he may head to the Labour Party

However, an Okorocha loyalist told This Blog “if the governorship election in Imo State can be devoid of manipulation and interference of Federal Might, the governor and the APC will floor the PDP candidate in Imo State.

"The PDP is not in the good books of the people of Imo State. They ruled this State for 12 years and achieved nothing. The people can testify to this. We pray that God willing  they make former Governor Ikedi Ohakim the party’s guber candidate or any of these fat political cats in the party aspiring to be governor you can be sure that Rochas will defeat  them and easily get a second term

He continued  "We are not afraid. We know the perception of the APC in the State and in the South East. The PDP has blackmailed our party and called it a Boko Haram party.   We are not deterred, we are not  scared of that, Okorocha has the people’s might and his personality will win the elections for him. Period

Meanwhile Okorocha was reported to have told a congregation at the First Session of the 2nd Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Ohaji/Egbema held at St.Pauls Church Mgbirichi in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State that he may not come to anybody in the State to campaign or seek for votes for reelection in the 2015 election

Describing governorship position as burdensome, Okorocha added that he knew the risk he took by going to the land of the devil to force power out of the evil ones for the interest of the people of the state.

He said: “I went to the land of demons to force power out of the evil one for the good of Imo people”.
This is coming even as the expectations of Imo people remained hanging whether Okorocha will contest for a second term or go for presidential election come 2015.

Okorocha has never minced words in telling Imo people that he is considering what he has achieved in Imo and that if given opportunity for the presidency of the country with the enormous resources, he would do more than both the present government and the previous leaders.
