METUH.
The family of detained National Publicity Secretary of the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, has said that their son is afraid to eat in detention for fear of food poison.

The family also denied that their son collected the sum received N1.4 billion naria from the office of the National Security Adviser.

Mr. Metuh was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, on allegations of corruption, and remained in detention.

The statement published by PREMIUM TIMES, an online news site, said Metuh’s family expressed concern on the health and safety of their son.

“Our biggest concern for now is the health and safety of our son, who even before his arrest had alerted the nation about various threats to his life, a stance that is not unconnected to his position as the spokesperson of the opposition.

"Our position is more so as he has refused to eat following fears of intentions to poison him in detention” the family stated.

Also, the PDP spokesman family denied that he collected N1.4 billion from the office of the National Security Adviser.

The statement said the PDP spokesman acknowledged he delivered on an assignment for former President Goodluck Jonathan, and was duly paid.
