Arms Deal: Ex Minister, Kema Chikwe Received N5m, Says EFCC Operative

Former Minister of Aviation and Woman Leader of the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mrs Kema Chikwe was paid N5m from the arms fund.

The Minister was one time Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ireland/Iceland. She is the first PDP chieftain from Imo State to be named in the ongoing trial of some PDP chieftains who collected monies from N2.1 billion Dollars Arms Procurement.

 The N5 million naria Chikwe allegedly collected was revealed by an EFCC operative, Junaid Sa”id  who is prosecution Witness 8 in the ongoing trail of the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, over alleged money laundering to the tune of N400 million at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The witness told the Court on Tuesday (9th February 2016)  that Chikwe collected N5m from Metuh .
The purpose of the money was not stated.

Sa’ad who is the last witness to be called by the prosecution, also told the court how the rest of the money was shared.

He said the defendant; Metuh diverted the sum of N50 million naira to his personal account.

Metuh was alleged to have collected the N400 million from the office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) out of the funds meant for the purchase of arms.

The witness stated that after payment of N400million by the ONSA,N366 million was paid into the same account by one Kabiru Ibrahim who also paid in N150 million, capital field Investment paid in N91million and one Eyitonye paid in N82 million. The witness stated that the funds formed the naria equivalent of $2 million, which Metuh gave to one Nneka Araraume in cash.

The witness also said that the money was used for PDP campaign activities and for personal use by Metuh.

Among the disbursement made are: the sum of 77.5 million paid to CMC Connect for campaign activities, the sum of N25 million paid to Abba Dabo for campaign activities and the sum of N21.7 million was paid to Chief Tony Anenih.

He further stated that the sum of N50million was found to have been transferred to a joint account of Metuh and wife.

In addition, he added that the sum of N500 million was also discovered to have been transferred to Daniel Ford International Limited in two tranches of N200million and N300 Million for a purchase of property at Banana Island in Lagos State.
