Labour in Imo State are
said to have commenced plans to embark on an indefinite strike action to
express their displeasure over the refusal of the Imo State government to
recall workers it sacked in 19 parastatals and agencies.
The NLC had issued a seven day ultimatum to the State government to reverse the action. The ultimatum was said to have expired on February 2nd, 2016.
A source in told this
online newspaper today that the strike may come early next week.

It is going to be a massive strike since the State government has refused to
comply with our demands' he said.
INNONEWS.COM had reported
that the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has vowed to move against the Imo State
Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha over his sack of some workers in the State.
It also says it will declare
“national action” on Imo State if the action is not reversed
The NLC accused the Imo
State government of surreptitiously sacking workers in the State, and vowed to
shut down the government.
Rising after its
National Executive Council meeting on Friday, the Labour Union said it would
“mobilize to Imo State shut it down as a response to Governor Okrocha’s
consistent anti- labour policies, impunity and retrenchment of workers, in
spite of his promises to the leadership of the Congress that he would not take
such decisions.
“Congress also resolved
to take a national action in respect of Imo if necessary” he said.
Some online platforms quoted the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Austin Chilapku that the NLC has issued a seven day ultimatum to the state government to reverse the decision.
