Imo PDP leaders Align To Ihedioha, Hope Uzodinma Camps ( SEE HOW PARTY LEADERS HAVE ALIGNED)

Ihedioha (m), Uzodinma Right ...in 2014

BY EXCEL CHIMA

Despite serious attempts by the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to unite the two factions that exist in Imo PDP, key leaders of the party have aligned themselves more to the two contending camps in the party.

The two camps are led by Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, a former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives and Senator Hope Uzodinma, senator representing Imo West senatorial zone.

The duos are in a rat race to capture the entire structure of the PDP in Imo State as a propelling factor to oil their governorship ambitions in 2019.
Investigation conducted by this online newspaper showed that despite the outcome of a meeting convened by the national chairman of the PDP, Ali Modu Sheriif and Chairman, Peace And Reconciliation Committee of the PDP, Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, most of the leaders of the party in Imo State have gone back to the trenches and formidably aligned themselves to the two camps.

The Dickson Committee sued for peace and unity at the Abuja meeting but events on ground show that peace is far from being realized in the party at least for now based on the entrenched interest of party stakeholders.

A source at the Abuja meeting told this newspaper that the reason for the alignment is based on the possibility that the forthcoming congress may not be free and fair after-all as it may lead to harmonization of party positions from the ward to the state levels to accommodate the interests of all party stakeholders.

He said “Despite the clamour that the congress should be free and fair to enable the choice of party members at the grassroots leads the party; this may not happen because of the entrenched interests of the contending forces.

“As a result, most of the leaders of the party have seen this may not be possible and the only option for them is to align with any of the camps and be part of the harmonization.

“This is why most of the leaders, including former Governors, senators, House of Rep members on the party platform have entrenched themselves in either Ihedioha or the camps of Senator Hope Uzodinma.
