We Are No Signatories To 70% Workers Pay Bank Account- Imo NLC

The Imo State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC, have said they are no signatories to the bank account where 70% of the state funds from which monies are domiciled to pay Imo workers salaries.

This was revealed by the State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, in Imo State, Paul Akalazu in his address at the workers day ceremony on Sunday at Heroes Square, Owerri.

He said labour only supervises the payment to forestall the victimization of any worker in Imo State. He called on the State government to tackle the plight of pensioners in the State by paying the arrears of Imo law officers and those in ADAPALM which run up to 15 months.

He also called on relevant government agencies to speed up the verification process of pensioners which he said has been put on hold since 2014.

Akalazu also accused the State Accountant General, Mrs Udeogu of being responsible to the raging issue of unpaid salaries in the state. He failed to give further details
