Trouble In Orluzurumee, As Group Rejects Ex President Okoro For Allegedly Blackmailing Imo State Governor

*As Okoro  blackmails Gov. Okorocha

Orluzurumee Cultural Union over the weekend was reported to have rejected its former president, Chief Reuben Okoro, alleging undue meddlesomeness over the affairs of the union.

Okoro who was said to be on suspension for alleged gross indiscipline and fraudulent activities in the name of the union was alleged to have of recent been parading himself as chairman of board of trustees of the union. In seemingly an unmitigated desire to continue his stranglehold on the union, he had petitioned the Orlu Area Command Headquaters of the Nigeria Police Force  to compel Chief Emeka Diwe, the incumbent president to surrender the custody of the union's bus to him (Okoro)
.After a thorough investigation, the police were reported to have invited him and the union's leadership for interview. Strange revelations at the meeting was said to further incense officers and stakeholders of the union, including Okoro's men against him (Okoro), alleging high-handedness, greed, abuse of power which they said have caused grave damage to the organisation.

Consequently, the leadership and members rose in one voice to call his bluff, warning him to steer clear of the union.

It was alleged that Okoro had in the meeting told how Engr. Peter Ohagwa called him the previous night and informed him that he governor had directed him (Okoro) to take over the union, harmonize it and ensure that Chief Emeka Diwe is removed as President because he (governor) did not like him (Diwe).

After detailed valuable interaction, the Area Commander, Mr. Charles Mozie advised the parties to sheathe their swords, embrace peace and support the president, Chief Diwe, to give the union direction and conduct elections to produce new leadership, directed that whoever emerges would take custody of the union's properties.

Interestingly, Prof. David Akubukwe who was elected secretary of the noble socio-cultural union along with Diwe had shortly before 2015 general election was accused of unilaterally adopting a guber candidate on behalf of the union and was consequently removed from office, contradicted Okoro's claim over the properties and leadership of Board of Trustees of the union.

With the outcome of the case Okoro, the self acclaimed board of trustees chairman of Orluzurumee was said to have left the venue like an orphan, having lost support of all, even his own men who decided to give unreserved support to Chief Diwe, who they said has done so much to return the union to the path of honour and esteemed it occupied in Orlu geo-political zone of Imo State.

According to some stakeholders of the union who spoke to our reporter, Okoro's refusal to render account of his leadership of the union is the root-cause of persistent crisis resulting to dirty intrigues in the union. They condemned Okoro's seeming intransigence and advised him to do the needful rather than resorting to harrassment, intimidation and all manner of mischief.

A stalwart of Orluzurumee who pleaded anonymity accused Okoro of actions capable of causing bad blood between Okorocha and the union.

Waxing bitter, he wondered why Okoro should be dragging the governor's name into an internal problem of the union. He warned Okoro to stop going about saying the governor who obviously has no interest in who leads Orluzurumee, does not like Diwe hence he has mandated him to harmonise the union. He counseled the embattle former president of the union to sheathe his sword and desist from actions capable of bringing the noble union to public ridicule and opprobrium.

Meanwhile, Diwe has petitioned the police to compel Chief Okoro to account for his stewardship of the organisation.
