Government Ministries Merged In Imo, Commissioners Reassigned, Dep Gov Loses Works Portfolio

The Imo State Government has  merged some ministries and reassigned some.  The Governor’s son In law Governor, Mr. Uche Nwosu, who until now was the Commissioner for Lands in the state now has to handle two ministries to become Ministry of Lands, Survey and Housing
In the exercise announced after the state executive council meeting some commissioners swapped positions, while others were to head merged ministries.
The State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha was reported to have said the cabinet reshuffle and merger of ministries was designed to enhance service delivery and keep the rescue mission train on track.
The former Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr Nick Opara-Ndudu, is now the Commissioner for Works and Transport. Mrs. Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro, former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, is now the Commissioner for Community Government.
Mr. Chinedu Offor, who was the Commissioner for Information, will now oversee the merged Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism. Professor Chima Iwuchukwu, former Commissioner for Community Government takes over as the Commissioner for Planning.
Dr. Iheanyi Nwachukwu, former Commissioner for Special Duties is now the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Public Safety and Youth Empowerment, while Prince Charles Onuoha former Commissioner for Housing is now Commissioner for Special Duties.
Okorocha also approved the appointment of the former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Ichie Best Mbanaso, as the new Deputy Chief of Staff and also to oversee the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
