Imo Deputy Governor Impeached, Eze Madumere Now New Dep Gov

In what appears a political end of the road for Jude Agbaso, the deputy governor of Imo State, he was impeached yesterday by the Imo State House of Assembly.

About 23 lawmakers voted in favour of his impeachment after the Majority Leader, Hon (Mrs) Adaku Ihuoma moved the motion for his impeachment. She was backed by another lawmaker, Hon (Mrs) Ngozi Pat Ekeji.

Before Agbaso's impeachment by the House, an Owerri High Court had dismissed  suit file by the Deputy Governor, challenging plans by the House of Assembly to impeach him over allegations of graft.

Similarly, a 7 man Judicial Panel of Inquiry chaired by Hon Justice Goddy Ihekire had  discountenanced  a letter from the Deputy Governor challenging the legality of the panel since there were two suits pending at various courts challenging allegations that he collected N458 million naria from one Joseph Dina, a lebanese contractor who runs JPros Construction firm

Dina had accused the Deputy Governor of demanding graft before a special Investigation committee constituted by the Imo State House of Assembly.

Meanwhile, the House of Assembly has cleared Governor Rochas Okorocha nominee for the post of Deputy Governor to replace the impeached Deputy Governor. He is Okorocha's Chief of Staff, Prince Eze Madumere.
