Senator Uzodinma is representing Orlu Zone (Imo North) in the Senate.
Uzodinma’s perceived governorship ambition and allegations of sponsoring newspaper publications against PDP National Woman Leader, Dr. (Mrs) Kema Chikwe attracted the ire of the OPF.
The OPF reaction is also coming on the heels of the Senator’s recent moves to Owerri Zone where he allegedly wooed leaders of the zone to support his governorship ambition.
In a release made available to this blog in Owerri, leader of OPF, Ebere Chukwuemeka, warned the senator to stop deceiving the people of Owerri Zone through monetary inducements, saying that he (Uzodinma) has no power to negotiate with Owerri Zone on the 2015 Governorship election.
They also warned the distinguished senator to cease forthwith from parading himself as the “alpha and omega” in PDP and should stop hoodwinking Owerri elders into believing he is the anointed choice of the people of Orlu Zone and has their mandate to negotiate for political power on their behalf with Owerri Zone.
Part of the Statement reads “He claims to be the leader of Orlu Zone. How come respected Orlu political leaders such as former Governor Chief Achike Udenwa, Nze Ignatius Umunna, Senator Arthur Nzeribe, Nze Elvis Agukwe, Chief Tony Ezenna, Chief Felix Idiga( JAFAC), Chief Eze Duruiheoma, Hon. Goodluck Opiah, members of the Imo House of Assembly from Orlu Zone, leaders of Orlu Zone PDP were not in his self serving mission to Owerri zone
“Did he see and meet core Owerri Zone leaders such as Dr. E.C Iwuanyanwu, Barr. Humphrey Anumudu, Chief Jerry Chukwueke, Dr Mrs. Kema Chikwe, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Prof Viola Onwuliri, Senator Chris Anyanwu and others when he came on his self serving and deceitful mission.
The Group cautioned Owerri Zone to note that Senator Uzodinma only came for himself as a ploy to penetrate the Zone and destroy it politically.
They accused the senator of sponsoring newspaper allegations against the PDP national Woman Leader, Dr. Mrs Kema Chikwe, describing such attack as cheap and malicious.
“His stock in trade is to destroy our elders and leaders. He made allegations that Dr Mrs Kema Chikwe is backing Hon Ihedioha for the governorship position. And we ask has campaigns began. Has INEC lifted the ban on campaigns? This is blackmail. What is the point attacking a woman on the pages of local and national newspapers?
OPF reminded Uzodinma of the political antecedents of Dr. Chikwe recalling that she was among the four aspirants in 2007 PDP primaries where senator Uzodinma was disqualified.
The group further stressed that Owerri Zone has sacrificed a lot to ensure mutual political harmony in the State among other zones.
“How much can Owerri Zone keep on yielding and sacrificing? Now only one man is masquerading and telling Imo people that Owerri Zone son, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and daughter and the PDP National Woman leader, Dr.(Mrs) Kema Chikwe must be destroyed in the media simply because they are holding strategic positions. This is an attempt to stripe Owerri Zone politically naked” he said
OPF called on Owerri Zone leaders, women and youths to resist further campaign of calumny against them and focus on victory for the PDP with an Owerri Zone Governor.
It advised “Senator Uzodinma to be a statesman and a party man, control his supporters from being overzealous and also work in harmony with the leadership of Orlu Zone”
