Imo Guber 2015: Agbaso, Iheancho Agree To Ceasefire

l-R; IHENACHO, AGBASO
The political feud between Chief Martin Agbaso and Capt Emmanuel  Iheancho is on temporary ceasefire following the intervention of kinsmen of the duo.

Both have been described as political cat and mouse over irreconcilable political differences which have shattered the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in Imo State.

The hostilities between the duo have increased chaos in the party, thus dividing party members into interest groups.
Agbaso and Iheanacho are from Emekuku in Owerri North LGA and have indicated interest to fly the APGA flag for the next governorship election in Imo State in 2015.

A reliable source told this blog that the ceasefire agreement was brokered by a local political group in the area made up of kinsmen of the two antagonists who are presently exploring options of settling the rift.

At several meetings held to broker peace, the cessation of hostilities was adopted as a prelude to deal with outstanding issues .Part of the ceasefire is to refrain from inflammatory statements and press interviews.

According to a source, Agbaso is said to be aggrieved with Iheanacho for saying that he (Agbaso) is not the leader of APGA in Imo State. And to further worsen the rift, Iheanacho allegedly accused Agbaso of demanding for N1 billion as gratification.

Agbaso denied and described the sailor as a debtor with several debt profiles with some banks and financial institutions in the country. An allegation the sailor refuted.

This blog was however informed that aside the ongoing verbal exchange of words, the rift began a long time ago as a cold war when Agbaso suspected Iheancho of  giving financial muscle to Maxi Okwu’s legal quest to displace Victor Umeh as the National Chairman of APGA.

Okwu won the legal tussle when thelaw courts upheld his plea that he is the authentic national chairman of APGA. Having secured his political backbone, Iheancho dumped the PDP and joined APGA to boost his aspiration to run for Imo Governor in 2015.  This unsettled Agbaso and his followers who see Iheanacho as an intruder who came to APGA to reap where he did not sow
Agbaso has consistently nurtured APGA in Imo State. He strongly backed Rochas Okorocha who won the 2011 governorship election on the platform of APGA.

Okorocha and Agbaso later parted ways politically when Okorocha defected to the All Progressive Congress, APC.
