Senators Insist No Plan To Shop For Senate President Successor
Senator Anyanwu |
The Senate President has been under pressure to resign following his ongoing trial for false Assets declaration by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT)
Anyanwu who is the Chairman of the senate committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions led other Chairmen of various committees to issue a statement in Abuja yesterday declaring their support for the senate president.
Others who signed the statement include senate committee chairman on Banking, Insurance and other financial institutions, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, (APC, Kwara South); Committee on Niger Delta, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, (PDP, Delta North), Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi,( APC Niger North), Committee on Navy, Senator Hamma Misau, (APC Bauchi central) and Committee On Health (Secondary), Senator Lanre Tejuosho (APC Ogun Central)
The senators who were apparently reacting to a news story by a national newspaper said there was no iota of truth about claims that some senators were discussing or thinking about Saraki’s successor because there was no basis for that.
Senator Anyanwu has been a long time ally of the Senate President
