Some
Nigerian players had golden moments at the weekend in the European league.
Brown
Ideye was one of them as he was on target for his Turkish Club, Olympiakos who
defeated Kalloni 5-0.
His side was also crowned Greek Champions – their 43rd
title in history at the weekend.
Ideye
scored the fifth goal of the game with just six minutes left to the close of the
game. He had scored 10 goals in 24 appearances for Olympiakos this season.
Former
Super Eagles player, Abduljalil Ajaguh was also in action for his Greek side
Levadiakos in their 3-1 win against AEK Athens.
Super
Eagles Defender Leon Balogun scored his first Bundesliga goal for his club FC
Cologne, though they came down from their 2-0 to win 3-2 in Sunday’s
league game.
In
the Italia Seria A, Super Eagles Midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi scored in Lazio’s 2-0
win against visiting Empoli. Onazi played for 90 minutes scoring his 10th
league game for his club which he scored in the 44th minute of the encounter.
In
England, rising Arsenal star and latest Super Eagles sensation, Alex Iwobi was
outstanding in the Gunner’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace. He was substituted for Theo Walcott in the 75th
minute. The 19 year old nephew of former Super Eagles captain, Austin Okocha,
has scored two league goals for Arsenal this season.
Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses were in the starting
line- up for English side, West Ham as they drew 2-2 with English premier
league leaders, Leicester City. Emenike played for 90 minutes while Moses was
replaced by Enner Valencia in the 72nd minute.
In
Portugal, Nigeria’s left full back, Stanley Amuzie scored for his side SC Olhanense
in their 1-0 win over Farense. It was his first goal for his club and in
Europe.
Super
Eagles right back, Abdullahi Shehu was red carded in Uniao da Maderia’s 4-3
home loss to Parcos De Ferera.
In Turkey, Eagles Defender, Kenneth Omeruo made an appearance as Kasimpasa were beaten 2-1 at home by Kayeserispor. Omeruo was later substituted by Ferhat Kiraz in the 86th Minute
