Imo State Born Nigerian Youngster Kelechi Iheanacho Score Twice For Man City Win Over Stoke (UPDATED)

 



Imo State born Nigerian youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho, scored twice on Saturday as his team Manchester City recorded a 4-0 win over Stoke City at the Etihad Stadium.

Iheanacho was given a role in the starting line up by Coach Manuel Pellegrini.  His two goals  has helped his team  overtake Arsenal on the league table to now occupy third spot on the log.


Iheanacho scored his first goal of the day in the 64th minute and 10 minutes later the former Taiye  Academy product added another goal to now take his tally of goals in the EPL to five for the Citizens who take on Spanish giants, Real Madrid in the semi final of the UEFA Champions league..

It was Fernando that scored the first goal of the day for City when he glanced in a header off a cross from Jesus Navas.

Sergio Aguero then doubled the lead for the hosts two minutes before the end of the first half before Iheanacho ran the show in the second half to help his team to a big win.

Iheanacho was also rewarded with the Man-of-the-match Award for his effort in the game game as City deservedly got their revenge over Mark Hughes’ men who beat them 2-0 in the reverse fixture at the Britannia Stadium last December.

The Nigerian youngster is from Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State and represents abundance of talents scattered across the nook and crannies of the State.  Imo State has produced great soccer talents for Nigeria.

They include Nwankwo Kanu who is from Abia State but began his soccer career from childhood in Owerri, Imo State.

Other notable players that has played at the highest level of football include Emmanuel Amuneke, Mobi Oparaku, etc
