APC Membership Registration On Smooth Sail In Imo

Despite the propaganda bandied about by political naysayers that the APC is a muslim party and may face boycott by Igbos, the ongoing registration of members by the APC in Imo State may have proved such insinuations wrong as the APC in Imo State has continued to witness impressive turn out of people for the exercise.

Investigations by this blog across the State showed that the exercise started on a low scale as there was low turnout when it began last week, but this changed since last Friday when intending members turned out in their numbers to register.

In Owerri, registration officials said the turn out was impressive as most of them went short of registration booklets because of the impressive turn out of people.

At Uzii Primary school, Owerri, some officials of the APC carrying out the registration exercise said they are happy with the turn out of people who came in their numbers to register. One of the officials who pleaded anonymity commended the extension of the exercise which has given ample opportunity for intending registrants to register with the party.

At some centers in Owerri North, Nwangele, Okigwe, Orlu and Njaba, reporst indicate that   the story is the same as party officials expressed delight with the level of registration.   This blog gathered that stakeholders of the party had embarked on sensitization programme to intimate people on the need for them to register with the party.

Some top government officials were said to have effectively mobilised their constituents to register with the party.

 As at the time of filing this report, there has been no case of molestation of party officials at designated registration venues as the exercise has been considered peaceful in most parts of the State.
