Former
Imo State Governor, Chief Achike Udenwa is expected to rejoin the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP on February 28th, 2014.
This
blog was informed that the event will be held in Owerri and will attract PDP
bigwigs at the national level, including the national chairman, Adamu Muazu.
Details of the event was sketchy, but a source said the ex governor has
concluded arrangements for the defection move.
Udenwa
has been in the spotlight lately over reports that he will quit the All
Progressive Congress, APC for the PDP.
He
was said to have been part of a meeting PDP stakeholders in Imo State had with
President Goodluck Jonathan last week in Abuja.
Udenwa
and Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha were said to have fallen apart
politically over irreconcilable political differences. Things began to fall
apart for the Imo ex governor when the national leadership of the APC conceded
the party leadership in APC controlled States to State Governors.
This
automatically ruled out the ex governor from having the APC structure in the
State in his kitty.
This did not go down well with him and his
political associates as he now decided to pitch tenth with the PDP, a party on
whose platform he became Imo State Governor from 1999-2007.
It will be recalled that Senator Ifeanyi Araraume last month returned to the PDP after his political sojourn to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
ACN merged with the ANPP and CPC to form the APC.
