PPA On Okorocha's Political Radar?

The reluctance of the All Progressive Congress, APC to concede either the presidential and vice presidential slots to Governor Rochas Okorocha, may have compelled the Imo Governor to reconsider his next political move.

The party intends to allow the North and the South West take the two slots in the party.

In recent times, there have been speculations that the Imo Governor may quit the APC considering the slow snail development of the party in the State and seeming apathy towards the party in the South East region.

This is considered detrimental to his re- election agenda.

This blog learnt that despite APC’s status in Imo State as the ruling party, the opposition PDP appears to be waxing stronger and growing in leaps and bounds.   APGA in the State still retains tremendous support among the citizenry.

However, the posture of the APC  to concede the Presidential and Vice Presidential tickets to other zones  automatically rules out the Imo Governor and other contenders from the South East  from vying for such offices on the APC platform.

This blog reliably gathered that the APC has conceded the party’s National Chairmanship seat to the South East as a last resort to boost the party’s image in the region.

Things went awry for the Imo Governor when he was strongly criticized by his colleagues in the APC for allowing former Governor, Achike Udenwa to defect to the PDP.  Things have never being the same for the Imo Governor..

An Online report yesterday indicated that Okorocha will leave for Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), though his senior aides query the authenticity of the story and denied such move.

PPA was the political platform that took Ikedi Ohakim to Government House in 2007 before he (Ohakim) defected to the PDP.

A source in the rescue mission administration told this blog that the story bandied about the governor’s romance with the PPA or any other political party is a ruse and cheap blackmail orchestrated by the PDP in Imo State who are afraid of the Imo Governor’s political sagacity.

It will be recalled that Governor Okorocha dumped the PDP for then APP, before erecting Action Alliance (AA). He later dumped the party for the PDP and later cross carpeted to APGA where he won the Imo governorship contest. In 2013, he joined the All Progressive Congress, APC where he rose to become the Chairman of the party’s Governors’ Forum.
