Adamu Mu'Azu,PDP Nat Chairman |
With the deluge of new entrants into the PDP, the party is said
to be considering the option of constituting an Integration Committee.
The committee is to work out modalities to re- integrate those
who decamped from other political parties to the PDP and take care of rising
discomfort said to be expressed by old members of the party who are
increasingly getting uncomfortable with the rising number of returnees to the
party.
Most of the old members, especially those who are preparing for
one elective office or the other, are feeling uncomfortable on the basis that
the returnees are not returning to the party to boost its’ electoral chances
but to grab the party’s nomination and contest elections
One of the aggrieved party members who spoke to this blog on
condition of anonymity said: “We are yet
to understand why the party should celebrate and give so much recognition to defectors
who simply came back to the party because they were frustrated out of their
former parties. If they had the opportunity of realizing their ambitions in their
former parties, they would not have returned. These people cannot be trusted.
They will want to use the might and size of the PDP to actualize their
ambitions and possibly return to their old parties”
This situation which is raging like a wild fire in the party
across various States is said to have compelled the party leadership to tinker
with the idea of an Integration committee which will be saddled with the task
of harmonizing the interests of all party members and prevent an implosion
after party’s primaries for various elective offices.
