The funeral of former Chief Justice
of Nigeria, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa took a stunning dimension at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, Oguta when the first son of the deceased, Charly Boy stopped Imo
State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha from making a speech.
Okorocha, who was equally angry that
protocol was breached by President Goodluck Jonathan who was represented at
the mass by the Secretary of the Government of Federation, Chief Anyim Pius
Anyim by speaking before him, rose to make his speech but Charly Boy seized the
microphone from the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Jude Ike, which created confusion
in the church.
This forced the State Governor to lose
his cool as he was furious with rage, a situation which created confusion in
the church as the State Attorney General ordered other Imo State Government dignitaries
and lawyers to leave the church.
The Governor and his entourage left
immediately while the casket while the body of Oputa left for his body for his
country home for interment.
Before the ugly incident at the Church,
This Blog was told that there was a running battle between Charly Boy and the Imo
State Government over the funeral plans of the late Justice
Governor Okorocha was reported to have
voted the sum of N20 million naria to the Oputa family, but Charly Boy was
quoted to have warned the Imo State Governor to stay away from the funeral of
his father. No reason was given for this.
The State Government at a point was also said to have lost track of the burial plans of the
late Justice.
