"After 32 Months, We Were Paid Only 3 Months Pension", Radio And TV Imo Pensioners Allege.

PROTESTING PENSIONERS
Despite the payment of salary arrears to many workers  this December by the Imo State government, it is a different story for  state owned Radio and Tv pensioners who allege they were paid only three months of their pension after 32 months of non payment.

“We were paid three months of our pension this December,2015 and we only pray we get paid thereafter” said one of the pensioners who spoke to INNONEWS.COM on condition of anonymity.
There was no independent confirmation of these claims but it is a fact that the State government had embarked on payment of pensioners in the State.

Pensioners of the state owned media outfit has consistently of neglect. There has however been contradicting reports on how many months they are owed pensions as some of them who spoke to INNONEWS.COM continoulsy lamented non payment.

However, the State Government claim that it has strived to pay Imo pensioners their dues despite the fact that it has been observed that “ghost pensioners” are embedded in the pension payment system.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment and Strategy, Kelechi Okpaleke had in a radio interview recently said pensioners are paid in groups. He complained that the State government has continuously embarked on verification before payment, arguing that during the last verification exercise, 140 “ghost pensioners” were discovered.
