Allegations Of Fraud, Forgery Trail Commissioner Nominees In Imo

Some Commissioner nominees sent to the Imo State House Of Assembly for screening may have tough times  getting the lawmaker’s nod  because of deluge of petitions from concerned citizens of the State over their nominations.

A local tabloid in Owerri reported on Thursday, that the Assemblymen have received over 200 petitions on the commissioner nominees announced last week by the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

Some of the nominees are said to have intensified lobbying in order not be axed by the lawmakers based on the floodgate of petitions. A source told INNONEWS that some of the petitions bordered on fraud, forgery, disloyalty, educational qualification and other issues.

Most of nominees were said to have invaded the Assembly complex where they have intensified lobbying in order to get “soft landing” during the screening.

One of the principal officers of the Assembly, Hon Lugard Osuji was reported to have said that based on the petitions, the screening exercise may be delayed in order to conduct a thorough check on the nominees.
A source at the Assembly complex said  “ petitions always come when such list are sent to members of the House of Assembly. It is normal, but I can assure you that they will all be screened.

Governor Okorocha last week sent in his commissioner nominees and Transition Committee Chairmen to the House of Assembly for screening and approval, seven months after he was elected for a second term as governor.

Most of the nominees are decampees from the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party,PDP who joined the All Progressive Congress, APC in the heat of the April governorship election in Imo State.
