Buhari's Foreign Trips, Not Waste Of Money, Says APC South East

BY EJIMKONYE PAUL

The leadership of the All Progressive Congress in the South East says President Muhammadu Buhari frequent foreign trips are not waste of money.

It says rather it is part of the effort and sacrifice by the President to save the country.

Ostensibly reacting to criticisms that the president is wasting money that should have been invested for development, the APC South East spokesman, Osita Okechukwu in a statement in Enugu, said Buhari was acting nobly as the task of restoring the country by personally traveling abroad was not a task to be left for a delegation.

“The South East APC leadership Caucus of APC fully supports President Muhammadu Buhari’s frequent trips abroad.

“For us, Buhari is acting nobly as any good father whose family is not only deadly broke, but his house is on fire. He is running helter- skelter to save our dear country.

“This is not the kind of task to delegate. As a father of a broken house, he has no alternative except to run to friends and well wishers in a desperate bid to salvage our dear country especially when the money which could have been reserved for the rainy day had been catered away by marauders” Okechukwu said

“To worsen matters, the price of crude oil is on a free fall. Otherwise, his lethargy and inertia means there will be no food on the table” he said

On why the President did not delegate the Minister of foreign Affairs or any of his Ministers for such trips, he explained “No sane person can downplay the crucial role of the Minister of Foreign Affairs nor that of Nigeria diplomats in over 100 missions abroad.

“However, there is the Buhari phenomenon, therefore the trip by him, for us is to harvest the goodwill of his election has generated for our dear country” he stated.
