Lugard Osuji, Imo Assembly Majority Leader: Why Lawmakers Passed Vote Of Confidence On Rochas

At a time there is economic meltdown in the country that is affecting several States, including Imo, the State governor; Rochas Okorocha needs encouragement and support from the lawmakers.

This is the submission of Hon Lugard Osuji, Majority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly while reacting to the recent vote of confidence passed on the Imo governor by the State House of Assembly.


Osuji who spoke to INNONEWS.COM said the people of Imo State need to understand that Okorocha is grappling with a shortfall in the monthly revenue to the State to be able to continue to provide dividends of democracy to the people of the State.

The House Majority Leader told this newspaper “there is economic meltdown in the country and it is affecting everyone not just Imo State.

 “We in the Imo State House of Assembly believe that this is the right time to give all the support to the State Governor, Rochas Okorocha at a time like this”

“This is the time to support him (the governor), to encourage him to manage the situation and like I said the economic situation in the country is not just peculiar to Imo State" he said .

He said based on the economic realities on ground, the people of Imo State need to make adjustments, stressing that this is the time for sacrifice from well meaning sons and daughters of Imo State .
 
He however expressed optimism that there is hope in the future for the people.
 
Osuji who represents Owerri municipal state constituency in the House said “the situation we find ourselves is not a hopeless situation.  There is hope it will improve”

The Majority Leader also praised the anti corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the exercise as a positive one that will not only checkmate corruption that has been entrenched in the nation for a long period.
 
“I believe that the anti corruption war of Mr. President is paying off because each month we notice a tiny increase in the allocation. So you can see that the monies being recovered from the war on corruption is ploughed back into system.  So, we are optimistic the situation will  improve” he stated
