"Okorocha's Chatam House Embarrasment Did Not Stop Him From Completing His Speech" - Lawmaker

IPOB SUPPORTERS
Different versions have continued to trail the reported embarrassment of Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha at CHATAM HOUSE, London.

Some members of the Governor’s team to London have been bombarding INNONEWS.COM with phone calls on what really transpired at Chatam House House in London on Wednesday.

Okorocha was reported to have been embarrassed by a supporter of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) when he was speaking.

Governor  Okorocha’s free education program from primary to University level and his concerted effort at Human Capital Development Initiatives in the state was said to have  occasioned the interest of the London based Chatham House to invite him to talk on the referenced topic

Things later went awry at the event when an IPOB supporter began to pour invectives on the Governor but was immediately rushed by other participants at the event as they clashed with him while trying to push him out of the hall.

The video of the incident has gone viral on the social media.

But a member of the delegation to London and a principal officer of the Imo State House of Assembly who witnessed the event but  spoke on condition of anonymity said the incident took place but has been exaggerated on the social media.

The lawmaker who spoke to this online newspaper from London said the action of the IPOB supporter did not stop Governor Okorocha from completing his speech.

“The incident took place. But the whole thing is being exaggerated. Negative incidents like this travel so fast on the internet.  But it was a minor incident and it did stop the Governor from completing his speech which was applauded by his invitees.

He also said it is untrue that the Governor went to London with a large delegation as reported in the media.  The lawmaker   said members of the entourage are not up to 22, including the Governor’s personal staff.
