PRESS RELEASE: Imo Community, Obinze Holds Town Union Election, Elect Ayozie

 



A town union is an association formed by members of a community for the socio- economic development of that community.

  Accordingly, town union collaborates with traditional administration, government at all levels and sometimes non-governmental agencies to achieve its aim.

  Town unions existed in communities in Nigeria even before colonialism. Interestingly, when the colonial masters came to the country, they also associated with town unions and made adequate use of them to foster their mission.

The newly elected President General of Obinze Ancient Kingdom Mr Victor Ayozie said the election was conducted by various committees witnessed by HRH Eze A.C Enyinnaya, Chairman Eze' s Cabinet, Council of Elders,The Chairman Council Of Chiefs, Ndi Nze, The Clergy.

 After the election, Ayozie he was declared winner for the office of the PG with the following executive members namely Mr Kelecchi Okoro (Sec. Gen). Mr Nnaemeka Chiedo (First V.P) Mr  Chukwuma Okororafor (Fin. Sec), Mr Justice Ekwubiri (Asst. Sec), Mr Kingsley  Nokwara (Provost) Mr Peter Opara (Treasurer)

  Ayozie commended Committee  that conducted the Election for a free and fair transparent election.  He also also thanked the Abuja Branch, Lagos Branch Aba Branch, Onitsha Branch, Enugu Branch and of the union.

 The  President General charged the new Executives  of  the Central Union to pursue the assignment with a sense of urgency as the greater provision in the existing constitution have become obsolete.

  He added that as a senior office holder in Imo State, he will attract employments.

  Ayozie promised to rehabilitate the Community, assuring them of peace and unity. He is urged the community to be law abiding citizens. He used the medium to thank  every body with their good ideas for growth of the Community.
