Okorocha Shocked Over Death Of State Run Tv And Radio Director General, Esther Egbunna

The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has expressed shock over the death of the Director General of State run Imo Broadcasting Corporation, IBC, Mrs Esther Obong Egbunna.

A statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemedo, said the Governor received the news of the demise of the ace broadcaster with shock.

The statement reads:

“This is to inform the people of the State and the general public that the governor of the State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has received with high level of disbelief, the sad news of the death of the Director-General of the State owned media establishment, Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC), Evangelist Mrs. Esther Obong Egbuna and was shocked to the marrow.
“Evangelist Mrs. Egbuna had proved to be a highly talented broadcaster and a big asset to the State in the Broadcasting Industry and that had informed her appointment by the governor as the Substantive Director General of the Imo Broadcasting Corporation.
And while she held sway as the Director-General of the Corporation, she not only acquitted herself as an outstanding broadcaster and media manager of high repute, but also raised the professional standard of the corporation to the extent that, more listeners developed interest in the programmes of the Corporation.

“The governor noted that Mrs. Egbuna’s emergence as the Director-General of the state owned electronic medium was remarkable in many respects, and that is why her death at this point in time, would remain highly regrettable because the vacuum her death has created now in the establishment would be very very difficult to fill.

“The governor is much more worried that the death of the gifted broadcaster has come at a time, the government, the people of the state and her fans all over the country would have loved to continue to hear her voice as a broadcaster-per-excellence.

“The governor noted that the demise of Mr. Egbuna is one death out of many and it won’t be forgotten by the people of the state in a hurry because of what she had represented in IBC in particular and in the electronic media in general.

“His Excellency would only pray at this stage that the good Lord should grant her innocent soul eternal rest, while urging Imo people, members of her family, workers and management of IBC and her fans all over the country to bear this great loss with sobriety.
