As at 8am this morning, most of the pensioners mainly aged men and women stormed the roundabout lamenting over non- payment of their pensions for several months.
The pensioners in their thousands said they are fed up with several promises of the State government that their pension arrears will be paid.
Today's protest by the pensioners in the State contradicts earlier claims by the State government that the welfare of the pensioners is on the priority list of the Okorocha adminstration
.This newspaper had reported last month that IBC pensioners are being owed 38 months of their pension.
Some of them were said to have died while waiting for their pension. Several appeals by the pensioners to the State government for payment of their pension has fallen on deaf ears
Our correspondent gathered that some of the pensioners were seen rolling on the tarred road, thus causing traffic gridlock on major streets and roads in Owerri
