Deputy Speaker, ANPP Inspire Nigerians On New Year Celebrations

The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON has called on Nigerians to put the past behind them and look forward with hope, optimism and renewed faith in themselves and the country in the year 2013 and beyond.

In a New Year message, the Deputy Speaker said the challenges of the outgoing year have helped to strengthen the resolve of Nigerians to overcome the hurdles of nation-building, noting that the country has come out stronger in spite of them.

He expressed hope that Nigeria will be better in the New Year and that all citizens must continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the country.

Hon. Ihedioha congratulated his Constituents, Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency, Imolites and indeed Nigerians for the God-given opportunity to see a brand new year. He pledged increased commitment in contributing his quota towards improving the lives and living conditions of his Constituents, Ndi Imo and Nigerians generally through the instrumentality of his Office as Deputy Speaker.

In a related development, the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) has urged Nigerians to  join the rest of the global family to thank the Almighty God for His favours in the past year and ask for a new year that is full of hope and promise,  the All Nigeria Peoples Party, shares with you all, the legitimate expectations of a better life which all of us desire and definitely deserve.

A statement signed by the party's national chairman, Dr. Ogbonnya Onu reads in part 'It is our conviction that our beloved country will be a better place where we can all be proud of if we resolve that our democracy will be such that the will of the people remains supreme such that the vote truly counts and the voter matters in an election that is not only free and fair but also peaceful and credible.

As we think of how to improve our lives in the new year, we should also reflect on how we can rededicate ourselves to a more conscientious pursuit of those cherished attributes that will enable Nigeria’s democracy and her development to flourish and blossom.

The way we want our future to be, will depend on the choices we make today.  We urge our fellow country men and women to strengthen their faith in themselves, put the interest of the nation first, reaffirm implicit confidence in the power of a collective determination to succeed and above all, insist that never again shall we fail to do it right and get it right for the sake of both today and tomorrow.

We urge Nigerians not to despair for surely after rainfall must follow sunshine!  We must continue to pray for Nigeria.  Our faith in our country must remain strong.  We must continue to remain courageous and

resolute, knowing that success is not for the fainthearted but for the brave and unrelenting with abiding faith in the will of the Almighty God.

Finally, we wish all Nigerians and indeed the rest of the global community, a most prosperous new year' the statement concluded
