Former Imo State Governor, Dr.
Ikedi Ohakim, Thursday denied media reports that he has been arrested by the dreaded
Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Reports were awash in Owerri
that he was arrested for monies he frittered away when he served Imo State as Governor
between 2007-2011.
A local tabloid in Owerri had reported
that Ohakim said he was embarrassed with the publication of another Owerri based
newspaper that falsely reported that he was invited for questioning by the anti
graft agency.
He wondered where the newspaper got its reports for him.
His words as reported by the
Owerri based local tabloid ‘I was not arrested or invited by EFCC. What did I
did I do that EFCC would arrest me. Since I left office, the agency had invited
me once or twice to come and give information when needed. It was a routine affair,
but i was at all times left to go home. I have never been arrested before by
EFCC as I am speaking to you from my office at Asokoro, Abuja’
