Tension Grips Imo Commissioners Over Okorocha's Sack Threat

Tension and fear of losing their jobs have enveloped some commissioners in the Imo State Executive Council.

Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha last Tuesday while giving account of his achievements in office in two years, told his commissioners point blank that they should kiss their jobs goodbye.

The Governor said his Rescue mission is entering another level, thus requires fresh and more hands.

This blog observed that most of the Commissioners have intensified lobbying to retain their jobs.

A local tabloid in Owerri reported that those to be sacked are those who have no political value and who have performed poorly in office. Eight commissioners were listed by the tabloid to be on their way out.

The expected new look State executive is said to be a measure by the Governor to accommodate certain political interests as Okorocha consolidates in ensuring the effective take off of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Okorocha had dumped APGA for the APC,a new political party seeking registration from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In Imo State, the formation of the APC has compelled political heavyweights such as former Governor Achike Udenwa to be in the same political boat with the Governor.
