Latest On Allegations Against Imo Speaker; Samuelson Writes Imo

Social Crusader, Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha, yesterday wrote to the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, wondering why the executive arm of government has kept mute over allegations of corrupt enrichment by the Speaker of the Imo House Of Assembly, Rt Hon Benjamin Uwajumuogu
.
Sameulson, had accused the Speaker, whom he served as Special Adviser on Media of corrupt practices.

The Imo State House of Assembly had constituted an investigation panel to investigate Samuelson’s allegations. He did not show up describing the panel as a kangaroo designed by the Speaker to cover his tracks.

Meanwhile, Sameulson took his case to the Imo Governor. His letter reads:

30th April 2014
The Executive Governor
Imo State-Nigeria
Government House
Owerri.
Your Excellency,
IMO STATE GOVERNMENT’S SILENCE ON SPEAKER BENJAMIN UWAJUMOGU’s FRAUDULENT ACTIVITIES
I bring to you Calvary greetings and God’s love in Jesus name. Amen.
Your administration has done a lot to reposition the socio-economic and political status of the state to the envy of other state governments in the country. It is an acknowledged visible fact that this administration has embarked on so many people oriented projects across the state. It is equally on record that your administration’s desire in embarking on these numerous projects is linked to the
collaborative cooperation between the Executive and the Legislative arms of government headed by Your Excellency and Imo Speaker respectively.
However, beneath the sincerity of your administration to bring dividends of democracy to the people through the execution of multiple projects at the same time, is the grand design of the Speaker of Imo
State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu and his aides to defraud the Imo State government and her citizens of billions of naira. This, Speaker Uwajumogu and his aides have done and currently doing.
Your Excellency, you will recall that on the 20th of December 2013, I officially informed you why I quit (resigned) from this government on the 17th of December 2013. I informed you of the fraudulent activities going on at Imo Speaker’s Office. I informed you that I discovered these fraudulent activities while still as an aide to Speaker Uwajumogu, and made concerted efforts to stop these activities which
clearly have dented the good image of your administration. I thereafter pleaded with you to compel the leadership of the Imo State House of Assembly to set up a panel to investigate these allegations,
having failed to set up one when I requested for it severally from the Speaker himself.
Your Excellency, having waited for two months (between 20th December 2013 and 18th February 2014) without any reactions from you, I officially petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
EFCC (see the enclosed Petition) on the 18th of February 2014 on the fraudulent activities of speaker Benjamin C. Uwajumogu and his aides, visa-vis (1) Road contract scams (2) Employment Racketeering (3)
Salaries scams (4) Financial Assistance Scams (5) Imprest scams (6) General supply scams (7) Stipend for correspondent scams, etc.
I also listed properties acquired by Speaker Uwajumogu with proceeds of the crimes. See enclosed some pictures of the properties and their locations. See also enclosed some pictures of roads which Imo Speaker awarded to his company – WERDIS LTD.
It should be noted that one month later, your Excellency embarked on Local Government roads assessment tours in all the Local government areas in the state. Your findings were not only shocking but also embarrassing to your rescue mission administration. Your Excellency discovered that Imo Speaker fraudulently awarded road contracts to his aides, cronies and to himself through his company
WERDIS LTD and other unqualified companies. Your Excellency also discovered that most of the roads were constructed without stone base. Your Excellency equally discovered that payments were made to these inexperienced contractors who did poor jobs. Your Excellency finally discovered that Payments running into millions of naira were made to Imo Speakers aides who pretended to be road contractors but abandoned the roads projects. Specifically, Your Excellency discovered that the Chief of Staff to Imo Speaker, Mr. Kodichi Anamekwe pocketed the sum of N18million and N70million meant for the construction of ORIENDU-NKWODURUKWU road in Ehime Mbano LGA and other roads through his company FALCON ENGINEERING LTD. Your Excellency also discovered that Imo Speaker’s Special Adviser on Inter-governmental matters; Mr. Dan Orji pocketed the sum of over N50.4million meant for the
construction of roads in Ihitte/Uboma LGA. Your Excellency also discovered that in many local governments in the state, Imo Speaker awarded road contracts to his company and to his cronies (fronts) companies, collected and pocketed state funds running into Billions of naira meant for the construction of these roads without doing the jobs. Your Excellency made these discoveries between 20th and 26th of March 2014. You also ordered for the arrest and detention of Imo Speakers’ aides for their involvement in road contract scams in the state.
It is symbolic to note that Imo Speaker’s sudden U-turn to set up a belated Kangaroo Panel made up of his praise singers on the 27th of March 2014 was simply a strategy or design to save himself of the
imminent disgrace, humiliation and impeachment, following your Excellency’s practical confirmation of my allegation of Road contract scams involving Rt. Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu and his aides. The panel invited me to appear before them on the 4th of April 2014, but I dismissed them as an April Fool’s Panel with 23 reasons. See enclosed response.
Your Excellency, it is expedient for me to let you know that Honourable members of Imo State House of Assembly have confirmed that Speaker Uwajumogu pay rolled over 120 aides out of whom 90 of them are ghost workers, who earn salaries without working for it. One of the ghost workers is an 85 year old Madam Monica Anamekwe, mother to Mr. Kodichi Anamekwe (Imo Speaker’s Chief of Staff). You can verify this obvious fact. Other areas of fraud involving Imo Speaker can be verified by you.
Your Excellency, The questions Imo people are now asking include;
(1)Why is Mr. Kodichi Anamekwe still in this government despite the fact that Your Excellency has confirmed his involvement in Road Contract Scams?
(2)Why is Mr. Dan Orji still in this government despite the fact that Your Excellency has confirmed his involvement in Road Contract scams?
(3)Why is Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu still parading himself as Imo Speaker despite the fact that it has been confirmed by Your Excellency and Imo Citizens that he is deeply involved in monumental Road
contract scams? The former Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso was impeached over a minor road contract mis-understanding.
(4)Why has the 85 year old Madam Monica Anamekwe continued to earn salary as a ghost worker? When will she be arrested and detained for defrauding the state government?
(5) Why has Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu not resigned as the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly?
(6)Why have the Honourable members of the Assembly not impeached Chief Benjamin Uwajumogu as Speaker? Or are they under a spell?
(7)Is the Executive Arm of Government collaborating with the legislature to bury this monumental fraud that involves Speaker Uwajumogu?
(8)Is speaker Uwajumogu a front for the Executive in the road contract scams?
(9)Why is the Executive finding it difficult to ask Speaker Uwajumogu to resign?
(10)The properties Speaker Uwajumogu acquired with stolen state funds, when will they be confiscated?
Your Excellency, the silence of the executive over this matter is worrisome, and as a result, some concerned Imo Citizens have undertaken to investigate the relationship between Imo Speaker and the
head of the executive arm; visa-vis (a) Why certain laws and motions have been passed (b) Various foreign trips that have only brought socio-economic loss to the state (c) Why the Imo State House of
Assembly have not been having their normal plenary since the past five months when the crisis started etc. They will make their findings public soon.
As 2015 general election draws closer, the way and manner the crisis at the Imo State House of Assembly is handled will surely make or mar your re-election. I say this with due respect because the continued silence of the executive over the crisis at the legislative arm is worrisome. Imo people are asking; who is speaker Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu to award road contracts? Who is speaker Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu to steal funds running into billions of naira belonging to
Imo people? Who is Speaker Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu to acquire properties with stolen state funds?
Bread of deceit is sweet to the mouth but afterwards the same mouth shall be filled with gravels and stones. He who sows injustice will surely reap calamity, so says the Holy Bible.
Please accept my best and warmest regards.
