Ohakim Escapes Death, As Ex Imo Governor Owerri Home Is Bombed

DEBRIS OF OHAKIM'S BOMBED OWERRI HOME

Barely 24 hours after former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim, declared his intention to contest the 2015 Imo Governorship election, his prefab, Owerri home has been bombed by unknown arsonists.

Ohakim who spoke to newsmen said "I don't know who could have hatched such dastardly act against me and my family. Throughout my four-year tenure as governor of Imo State, there was no single assassination or arson in the state. I even picked the bill of some opposition figures who fell sick. I returned recently from a medical trip and as ex-governor.

"I am entitled to government picking the bill but the information I have is that the letter I wrote to government was torn into shreds. My severance allowance was not paid, the guest house I am entitled to was confiscated as well as my personal effects. Will I be deterred or cowed? No. I am going to make some political statements on Saturday, May 17, 2014.

Ohakim is expected to speak to his supporters and associates on Saturday where he is expected to formally declare his intention to contest the 2015 governorship polls.
