Ohakim To Contest 2015 Imo Governorship Race

OHAKIM
There are feelers that former Imo State Governor; Ikedi Ohakim may vie for the Imo governorship contest in 2015.

Ohakim was reported to have told his supporters and political associates at his Okohia, Isiala Mbano country home that come Saturday, 18th May, 2014, he will declare his intention to return to Government House, Owerri for a second time.

Ohakim lost the 2011 Imo governorship election to Rochas Okorocha, in a nail biting election that attracted nationwide attention.

Sometime, last year, rumours of his intention to contest for the governorship race were quickly doused by his associates. Last week, another report had it that he has settled to vie for Okigwe senatorial seat.

However, his intention to rejoin the governorship race will certainly increase the intensity of the Imo PDP guber primaries which has over 18 persons aspiring to grab the PDP governorship ticke .

Ohakim’s first stint as Governor of Imo State has been largely hailed by his political associates who were beneficiaries of his New Face of Imo administration, but has continued to receive knocks from non elites in the State who have diverse opinion on his mode and style of governance.
