Imo PDP Guber Aspirant, Bethel Amadi, Opens Up: I have The Qualities To Govern Imo

 


  
As the race for the Imo governorship race gathers momentum, The President, Pan Africa Parliament, and frontline PDP governorship aspirant, Hon Bethel Amadi, says he has the midas touch, vast experience and exposure to take Imo State to Eldorado.

Hon Amadi who spoke at the kick off of his sensitization/ consultation tour to PDP chapters in the 27 local Government Areas at Ohaji/Egbema  LGA, said having served as Vice President of Pan Africa Parliament and later President of the Body which has representatives of 42 African Countries and 250 members, gives him ample opportunity to leverage on the gains of such position to attract enormous development to people of  Imo State.

 He said he has strong contacts with several international development institutions that are willing to partner with him if he emerges the governor of the State to end poverty, hunger, disease and more importantly attract development to the State.

He added that gone are the days Imo State will experiment with unprepared leaders, saying the State needs a break from such unproductive era.

He gave a run- down of his achievements as three time member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru federal constituency, saying at one time he was the House Majority Chief Whip in 2007.

As Chairman, Committee on Aviation, Amadi said he was privy to the award of contract for the construction of  Imo Terminal Building and light fencing of the Airport. He also said similar contracts aimed at uplifting the Enugu Airport was done when he was Chairman of the Committee.

He said as Chairman, Imo Caucus in the House of Reps, he facilitated efforts that led to the elevation of Alvan Ikoku College of Education to a Federal College of Education.

During an interactive session with PDP stakeholders and leaders at the country home of a PDP chieftain, Prince Uchendu Ikegwuruka at Mgbirichi, he told party members that gone are the days they are forgotten after aiding one’s ascension to an elective office.

He assured that one of the key points of the   partnership with the people of Ohaji/Egbema, is to   harness their resource for their benefit and ensure that Imo State Polytechnic at Umuagwo be given considerable attention.

He said the partnership will be strategic and mutually beneficial, saying that such partnership will be the beginning of a new beginning for the people of the area.

He said “key projects will be attracted here. I have the experience and international contacts to bring development here and in Imo State. I have the temperament and exposure to govern Imo State. At Africa Parliament, I have met and interacted with every Head of State on the African continent. I m also a member of club of continental presidents”

 He continued “ I will take advantage of these positions to bring in facilities that will aid development in Imo State. I have the integrity and I have a clear vision for Imo State. I have the capacity to bring total change to Imo State.  I have what it takes to bring in major institutions that will bring sustainable development to our dear State”

In his speech, a former commissioner in Imo State and one time Deputy Chief of Staff to Former Governor Achike Udenwa, Barr. Golden Ihekwurumere Nwosu described Hon Amadi as a true party member who has what it takes to give Imo effective leadership.

He said lawyers,  a profession  Hon Amadi practices, have done well in other  States they govern citing the leadership qualities exhibited by  Governors Babatunde Fashola, Sullivan Chime, Ibrahim Shema of Lagos, Enugu and Katsina States as verifiable casestudy.

He added that Imo State needs a professional to govern the State if it intends to reap and benefit from the qualities of   lawyers who later became governors.

Other party stakeholders in the area commended Hon Amadi for choosing Ohaji/Egbema as the first Local Government to visit and consult on his aspiration, saying in no distant time he will be invited for a parley to discuss the way forward geared towards aiding his ambition to be a success.
