Royal War: Imo Govt Dethrones Eze Illomuanya, As Monarch Battles To Regain Seat

The royal rumble between Eze Cletus Illomuanya and Eze Sam Ohiri has taken a new dimension following the take- over of the Imo Council of Traditional Rulers by Ilomuanya.

However in a dramatic twist and minutes after his action, a radio announcement on state owned radio purportedly signed by Secretary to Imo State Government, Prof Anthony Anwukah announced that Ilomuanya has been dethroned as Eze of Obinugwu by the State Governor.

Ohiri and Ilomuanya have been engaged in war of supremacy over who is the rightful Chairman of the Imo State Council of Ndi Eze , a powerful group made up of traditional rulers across the State.

Eze Ilomunaya is backing his latest action with a court judgment which reinstated him as Chairman after he was sacked by Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

Ilomuanya claimed that he was removed from office by Governor Okorocha before the expiration of his tenure and appointed Eze Ohiri as Chairman of the Council

The Monarch who doubles as the Chairman, South East Council of Traditional Rulers had sometime last year wanted to force his way into the premises of the Council based on the court judgment but was resisted.

A second attempt today (Friday, June 6, 2014) was successful as the monarch reportedly went into the Council Secretariat with the police and journalists. He was said to have briefed the press on his resumption.

An unconfirmed report said aides and staffers of Eze Ohiri took their heels on sighting the number of security personnel that came to enforce the Court Judgment with Eze Ilomunaya.  .

When contacted for comments, Eze Ohiri was not available but a source  not authorized to speak on the issue simply told this blog Eze Ohiri traveled out of the country.
