Njemanze, a PDP governorship aspirant in Imo State told journalists in his office that the time has come for the people of Imo State to elect a core professional that has the competence to transform the State.
He said he has the intellectual capacity and integrity to lead the State, arguing that he is in the governorship race not just to make up the number of aspirants but as one well prepared with ideas and innovations to make Imo State better.
He debunked claims that he is in the contest on the promptings of some political forces.
“I am in the governorship contest for real. I am not a stooge to anyone. I have no Godfather. I m in the race to win and for me, it is no retreat, no surrender for me.
He said those peddling false reports and rumours on his ambition are scared of his profile saying he has what it takes to be Imo State Governor having outlined solutions to the huge problems that State has been plunged into.
Reacting to reports that he will step aside for his former boss, Former Governor Ikedi Ohakim whom he served as Commissioner For Justice and Attorney General, Njemanze said he has no intention of doing so, adding that he still maintains a cordial relationship with Ohakim and other governorship aspirants as well.
“It is not true. I cannot do so. I m contesting based on the fact I believe I have what it takes to make Imo State better. I have focused my campaigns on issues not on cheap blackmail and propanganda.
“I have a roadmap that will take Imo State where it ought to be. I am prepared for the job because I understand what the problems at hand and I also took my time, made consultations before I decided to join the contest.
On the Imo Charter of Equity, the Owerri Municipal born Senior Advocate of Nigeria, said much as there is no written Charter of Equity, it is does not in any way hinder his ambition to continue vying for the governorship seat of Imo State.
“ I m not relying on Charter of Equity, much as it is not written, there were agreements on power sharing among the three geo political zones in the State, but whether it is honoured or not, it does not deter me from running”
On alleged plans by governorship aspirants from Owerri Zone to adopt a consensus candidate, he expressed doubt over the possibility of the arrangement saying it is not feasible wondering who will among the aspirants will agree to step down for each other
“I wonder how possible it will be. Who will step down for who?. The issue of consensus is not possible, except I will be the consensus candidate
