Super Exclusive: Orlu Consider Two Owerri Zone Aspirants For 2015 Imo Governorship

Some political leaders in Orlu Zone (Imo North senatorial district) are said to be considering two governorship aspirants from Owerri Zone to support for the 2015 governorship election.

This is said to be a fallout of series of secret meetings spearheaded by some top political leaders in Orlu Zone backing the  quest of Owerri Zone to produce the governor of Imo State in 2015.

 One of the high profile leaders of Orlu Zone who spoke to This Blog on condition of anonymity said several factors influenced their decision to narrow down their support to two governorship aspirants in the PDP from Owerri Zone

“ Those of us who are backing Owerri Zone to produce the next governor of the Imo State have decide to look in the way of two aspirants. We have ignored those who have fed so fat on the system and want to come back as Imo Governor. We are looking at two gentlemen. One is a core professional, a gentleman to the core, humble, humane and open minded while the other has been in politics for so long and has been severally ignored despite his huge sacrifice for the PDP” he said.

When This Blog prodded him to mention the two aspirants, he refused saying that consultations are still on and that at the appropriate time leaders of the area will make their intentions public possibly before the governorship primaries of the PDP either in October or November, 2014

The source however admitted that  Orlu Zone is sharply polarized over the ambition of one of their sons to contest for the seat of power of the State in 2015 but admitted that there is no consensus to reject or support his aspiration yet. This confirms an earlier report on this Blog that Orlu Zone is divided on the issue on who becomes the next governor of Imo State after the reign of Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

This revelation is coming on the heels after Owerri Zone political stakeholders visited the country home of former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udewan where they canvassed for support  of Orlu zone to support aspirants of Owerri Zone extraction to produce the next governor of Imo State.

Owerri Zone has continoulsy cried foul lamenting that it has not produced the State governor since the advent of democracy in 1999.
