Imo North Senatorial Re Run: Ex Imo State Gov,Ikedi Ohakim Backs PDP Candidate, Athan Achonu

In clear show of solidarity, former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim has announced his support for the candidature of Senator Athan Achonu in the February 20, 2016 Senatorial re- run in the Imo North (Okigwe zone).

Ohakim who spoke in favour of Athan at a PDP campaign rally in Obowo LGA, one of the six local governments that make up Imo North, said urged the people to re- elect Achonu in the re- run polls.

He called on the people not to be deceived by little token from the rival APC, stressing that 70% of senators in the country want the return of the senator.

He said Okigwe zone stand to benefit from Achonu’s representation, urging them to persuade the APC Senatorial candidate and former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Benjamin Uwajumuogu to step down for the PDP candidate.

He said he made Uwajumuogu a member of the Imo State House of Assembly on the PDP platform only for (him) Uwajumuogu to dump the PDP to join the APC.

Ohakim  urged the youths to shun taking part in rigging and other electoral vices.
