It was a stormy session yesterday at the national headquarters of the PDP, Abuja when party leaders from Imo State met with the PDP National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff and members of the National Working Committee.

The meeting designed to end a festering crisis driven by two protagonists in the party,  Emeka Ihedioha and Hope Uzodinma failed to reach a compromise prompting the NWC to shift the meeting to today.

Ihedioha and Uzodinma stormed the PDP secretariat with a large number of their supporters which contributed to flaring of tempers.

After the intervention of the National Chairman, the meeting eventually took off in Sheriff's office.

In the end,  no solution was reached, though the national chairman assured they will remain impartial in the crisis but pointed out that his priority is to ensure that the PDP defeat the APC in the forthcoming Re-run polls in Imo North senatorial district.

Sheriff said " We cannot go into elections with a divided house.  We insisted that all the leaders must be here.  I don't want people to start grumbling over who will have what.  I want to be on the side of the truth".

The National Chairman later went into a closed door meeting with select leaders of the two factions with members of the NWC where he pointed out that stakeholders from the two factions must make inputs in constituting the Congress committee  which will conduct the coming Congress of the party in the State.

He insisted that the caretaker Committee as presently constituted remains.

The Chairman promised that the NWC would resolve the lingering matter.  He later choose speakers mainly former governors  from of the State such as Achike Udenwa, Ikedi Ohakim,  serving senators and House Of Reps members, including the former deputy speaker,Ihedioha to ventilate the feelings of their people.

Udenwa attracted the rage of supporters of Uzodinma as they shouted him down when he spoke.   He said the meeting in Abuja is of no need because there is a caretaker committee in place since the tenure of the former state executive has elapsed.

More shouts vibrated from the Uzodinma camp when Udenwa said "Imo PDP members should listen to the caretaker committee"

The Caretaker committee is dominated by men loyal to Ihedioha.
