Chikwe, Ihedioha Never Consulted Imo PDP Leaders Before Caretaker Committee Was Constituted- Ex Gov
EX GOV OHAKIM |
Ohakim who was quoted in an interview published by an Owerri based newspaper, Nigeria Newspoint, said Okorocha needed someone who could match him “administration for administration, projects for projects, structures for structures”
On why he lost his second attempt to return as governor of Imo State by placing a distant third at the PDP governorship primary, he was reported to have said that he won the primary but was rigged out by the duo of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and the Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha who was pronounced winner of the contest.
The former Governor also spoke on the present crisis plaguing the PDP in Imo State as he fired salvos at the PDP National Woman Leader, Dr (Mrs) Kema Chikwe and Former Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha. He said both of them never consulted party leaders before the Caretaker Committee came on board in the State.
He said his unhappy with the development because it is unacceptable for only two leaders to constitute a 16 man Caretaker Committee. He described it as an insult on the personality of other party leaders.
“How would you constitute a caretaker committee without consulting Ikedi Ohakim? A party I rebuilt between 2007-2011 when everybody ran away? You said that you constituted a caretaker committee without consulting a two time former governor of the state, Chief Achike Udenwa and former deputy governor, Dr. Ada Okwuonu” he was reported to have said
He said the Caretaker Committee is a product of impunity.
“How can you say that you are democratic when out of “the sixteen man failed coup committee” only two persons come from Okigwe zone (Imo North)” he added.
The former Governor said based on the present development in the party, impunity and injustice has resurfaced in the party again, stressing that if not curtailed failure will stare on the face of the party again in 2019 elections.
According to him, the same impunity and injustice which destroyed the party in 2015 has resurfaced and if not checked would affect PDP chances in 2019 elections.
Chief Ohakim averred that PDP is like any other smaller political party in the state, because PDP has no president nor the governor of the state, explaining that only justice, internal party democracy, discipline and absence of impunity would guarantee electoral successes for the party, come 2019.
