Imo PDP Leaders Regroup In Owerri For Congress (UPDATE)

Top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State regrouped in Owerri,Sunday to proffer ways of handling the party’s forthcoming congress scheduled to hold in the State.

The PDP ward congress comes up this Saturday to be closely followed by the local government and State congress.

The meeting took place at the State party secretariat, located along Owerri- Okigwe road.
Among top party leaders that were present at the who is who meeting include former Governors of Imo State, Achike Udenwa and Ikedi Ohakim.  Others are former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives and PDP governorship candidate in Imo State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha.

The meeting was said to have been convened by one of the party's national leader from the State, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

Former Minister, Dr (Mrs) Kema Chikwe was also present alongside members of the State caretaker Committee. Senator representing Imo West Senatorial Zone, Hope Uzodinma was conspicuously absent at the meeting.

Our Reporter gathered that there was a uniamous consensus among party leaders that the congress will held in a free and fair manner devoid of manipulations, thus laying to rest issues bordering on imposition of candidates as was the practice in the past.
