PDP Allocate National Organizing Secy,National Youth Leader, Dep Fin. Sec Positions To South East

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Thursday, April 27, 2016 allocated what a party official described as “insignificant and back bench positions” in the yet to emerge national executive committee of the party that will come up after its national convention on May 21, 2016 in Port Harcourt.

The PDP Zoning Committee led by Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State zoned the offices of National Organizing Secretary, National Youth Leader and Deputy National Financial Secretary to the South East.  

The decision was reached at the party’s 70th National Executive Council meeting held on Thursday at its national secretariat in Abuja.

 These three positions for the region are considered below the powerful positions occupied by the South East zone in the outgoing NEC. 

Dr (Mrs) Kema Chikwe and Olisa Metuh are National Woman Leader and National Publicity Secretary of the party.

The new positions allocated to the South East in the emerging NEC is coming on the heels of a reported zoning of the Vice Presidential ticket of the party to the South East.

 However, the National Chairmanship position was zoned to the North East apparently clearing the way for Ali Modu Sherrif, the national chairman of the party, to contest a full term at the party’s national convention next month. The North is to produce the Party's Presidential Candidate as well.

 The newly adopted zoning arrangements as contained in a statement signed by Olisa Metuh, the party’s spokesman, are as follows:

ii. Deputy National Chairman – South-South
iii. National Secretary – South-West
iv. Deputy National Secretary – North-Central
v. National Legal Adviser – North-West
vi. Deputy National Legal Adviser – South-South
vii. National Treasurer – South-South
viii. Deputy National Treasurer – North-West
ix. National Financial Secretary – North-Central
x. Deputy National Financial Sec. – South-East
xi. National Woman Leader – North-West
xii. Deputy National Woman Leader – South-South
xiii. National Auditor – South-West
xiv. Deputy National Auditor – North-East
xv. National Publicity Secretary – South-West
xvi. Deputy National Publicity Sec. – North-Central
xvii. National Organizing Secretary – South-East
xviii. Deputy National Organizing Sec. – North-Central
xix. National Youth Leader – South- East
xix. Deputy National Youth Leader – North-West
