NJEMANZE (STANDING) Addressing Okigwe PDP leaders.

Barr Ken Njemanze, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)  a PDP governorship aspirant in Imo State, last week, took his campaign gospel to Okigwe, where he propagated his message and reasons why he is the best to govern Imo State in 2015.

Njemanze arrived the PDP Okigwe zonal office with members of his campaign team said he decided to embark on the tour as part of his ongoing consultations with stakeholders in the PDP in Imo State.

He said the greatest challenge facing the largest political party in Africa is to unite, stating that there is need for all PDP members to be together before the guber elections.

He kicked against sectionalism , saying the if the PDP intends to make a headway in the next elections by defeating Governor Rochas Okorocha of the APC, then it has to shun divisive tendencies and unite as one family.

He identified party politics as crucial and central to PDP’s success, saying no individual can single handedly make the PDP record victory at the polls.

Njemanze, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, spoke on the reasons why he decided to plunge into the contest.

“I m not contesting because of self aggrandizement. I know the problems of Imo State. And I have the ability to solve these problems. I  “I am serious about it.  I was born here (Imo State) and raised here.  If we bring a non homegrown candidate, PDP will fail the election. We need candidates that can win elections and I am that candidate. For me, it’s no retreat, no surrender.

Njemanze noted that Okigwe Zone remains a strong pillar in the Imo tripod, adding that he came to Okigwe to announce his aspiration and intention to Okigwe PDP.

Earlier in his introductory remarks, a PDP chieftain in Orlu Zone, Athan Ogo said Barr Njemanze is on the trip to fraternize with members of Okigwe Zonal PDP

He said “We are on this trip to fraternize with leaders of Okigwe PDP; we must avoid the mistakes of the past and ensure that we elect someone that has an open mind and a listening ear and more importantly some one that can win the governorship election for the people of Imo State

Athan Ogo also said the essence of the trip was not to campaign but to showcase to Okigwe PDP a well groomed person and seek for their partnership in order to avoid the mistakes of 2015.

“We must not dwell in the past. We need vibrant leaders here in Imo State. Fashola of Lagos State, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State is leading examples of what good governance is all about.  We should replicate same here in Imo State. Ken Njemanze is a serious candidate and he is the next governor of Imo State.

In his speech, a national officer of the PDP, Barr Vincent Okpaleke, recounted Barr Njemanze’s antecedents describing him as one of the best legal practitioners in the State.

He said “As President of Owerri Bar, there was discipline and progress in the association. He does not need introduction to us and I can say that he is one of the best for the job

In his response, a leader of the party in the area and a State officer of Imo PDP, Hon Uche Anyanwu said Barr Njemanze reminds him of Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, pledging his support to his aspiration.

“Ken is a party man and I pray that God should bless his aspiration, he declared.

Chairman, Okigwe Zonal PDP, Dom Uzowuru commended Barr Njemanze for kick starting his aspiration well, adding that Owerri Zone is higly favoured for the post of Imo governorship.

“We assure you that we will reciprocate the respect you have shown to us. When the chips are down, we will take the right decision. you are highly qualified and we will remember you in prayers
