Okigwe, Owerri Leaders In Strategic Meeting Ahead of 2015 Guber

ASOLUKA, IHEDIOHA, OZICHUKWU, KEMA, OGUIKE AT THE MEETING

 Key Political leaders Of Owerri and Okigwe zones in Imo State met at the country home of former PDP National Vice Chairman, South East, Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu in Ihitte Uboma LGA , where issues bordering on the political interests of the two zones were discussed.

 It was unclear what the meeting focused on but the quest by both zones to produce the next governor of Imo State was said to have featured prominently at the meeting which attracted the crème de la crème of the Imo political class.

Owerri Zone has been agitating for the seat of power in the State on the basis that since the advent of democracy in 1999, it has not produced the governor of Imo State.  It had taken its case to Orlu Zone where it met former Governor Achike Udenwa, canvassing the need for Owerri Zone to be allowed to produce the next governor of the State in 2015.

Surprisingly,Okigwe zone which had ruled the State for eight years plus is also staging a come back to the seat of power insisting that its tenure is not over.  Former Governor Ikedi Ohakim who governed Imo State from 2007-2011  recently announced his intention to contest alongside senator Ifeanyi Araraume who recently flagged off his 2015 guber ambition
