APGA Loses Ex Reps Candidate In Imo To PDP

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has lost one of its strong pillars in Imo State.

Barr. Zack  Okoronkwo, the party’s House of Representatives candidate in the 2015 election, has dumped the party and returned to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In a letter dated December 23, 2015 addressed to the APGA ward chairman, Umungwa/Amanze ward in Obowo LGA of Imo State, Okoronkwo said he decided to dump APGA in view of the exigencies in the political development of the nation.

He thanked APGA for the confidence and opportunities conferred on him during his stay in the party.
Okoronkwo was later received by PDP executives in his Umungwa/Amanze ward where he officially announced his intention to re join the PDP.

Addressing the party executives, he said he is not a stranger to the PDP having vied for an elective position in 2003 on the party’s platform. He said he left APGA for PDP for good, stressing that he decided to return to the PDP because it is his original political family.

He said he is one of the most consistent politicians in Obowo LGA and has served the PDP in the past in various capacities, stressing that at a time he co- ordinated a group within the PDP called the PDP Initiative and served in Dr. Alex Ekwueme’s Presidential Campaign Organization in 1999.

The legal Practitioner said he has come back to PDP to contribute his quota in rebuilding the party to make it stronger, assuring that he will be a consistent member that will pay his dues to the party and contribute meaningfully to any initiative that will promote the PDP in Obowo and Imo State.

He said he has no ulterior motive in rejoining the PDP but contribute significantly to the rebuilding and rebranding of the party which was contaminated by bad elements who polluted the party and left for the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Okoronkwo said Imo State remains a PDP State irrespective of the fact that an APC governor is at the helm of affairs of the State, expressing hope that come 2019, PDP will regain Imo State.

In his response, the PDP ward Chairman, Umungwa/Amanze Ward, Mr.Kevin Okamgba, described Okoronkwo as one of the leaders in Obowo with vision and known to be outspoken.

He said he should be commended for re-joining the PDP at this time which indicates his desire to come and strengthen the party ahead of the 2019 elections.

In his remarks, a leader of the party in Obowo LGA, Columbus Omenuko commended Okoronkwo for his return to the party.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of PDP membership to Barr Zack Okoronkwo
