PRESIDENT BUHARI(M) AT THE PRESIDENTIAL MEDIA CHAT.
President Muhammadu Buhari has explained why the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has not been released despite two court rulings that granted him bail.

He also denied allegations that his government has been marginalizing Igbos in the South East.

Speaking during his maiden presidential media chat in Abuja on December 30, 2015, the President said the severity of the crimes allegedly committed by Kanu does not permit granting Kanu bail.

Buhari said “The one you are calling Kanu, do you know he had two passports, one Nigerian, one British and he came into the country without any.

“Do you know he brought equipment into this country and was broadcasting Radio Biafra; which kind of government do you think should habor that kind of person?

“There is a treasonable felony against him and I hope the Court will listen to the case”

He said IPOB has not properly defined how his government has been marginalizing the Igbos in the South East

“The group says they are marginalizing Biafrans but they have not defined the extent of marginalization and those who are marginalizing them”

He said at no time his administration marginalized the South East, stressing that his actions are usually guided by the Constitution.

He explained that some of the key positions in his government including the Minister of State for Petroleum, Minister of Science and Technology, Labour and Employment, CBN Governor, among others are occupied by Igbos and wondered why some say he is marginalizing the South East.
