Bleak Xmas: Imo "Bigmen" Go Into Hiding, Avoid Phone Calls, Dodge Political Followers

Some Imo “big-men” mainly politicians seem to be feeling the heat of the cash squeeze in the country as most of them have gone into hiding to avoid pressure and monetary demands from political associates, friends and political followers who besiege them during the yuletide.

This is a departure from the past where such politicians organize parties and political events where they dole out cash, gift and food items to political followers and hangers on.

INNONEWS. COM observed that some of the elected public office holders who share rice and other items during Christmas and New Year celebrations have seized to do so. Those who carried out the largesse have restricted the number of those who receive such items from them. Most courtesy visits or calls to these high profile individuals have either been rejected or cancelled outrightly
.
Mr. Emeka Osuala, a community leader in Umuorri village in Owerri North lamented his ordeal to our reporter

“Most of them (big men) now ignore our phone calls. They hardly respond to our text messages either. Those who are magnanimous enough tell you they either in Abuja or abroad. They now avoid the people, not because they do want to but because they no longer have enough to give out

“Some of them, especially those in the PDP who normally give us cash and items during festive periods tell us we wanted and voted for change. And change has made them not to have enough to give out to us.

“ They tell us they are in Abuja when they are at home. This is really sad” he lamented.

Our reporter who visited a high profile politician of PDP extrcation on Christmas eve said indeed " the situation is bleak.
" Where would the money come from to give out as we normally do. They said we PDP share the money, now we ask, APC where is the money. Things have changed because we are following the change  mantra
