Imo Assembly May Get "Supplementary" Commissioners List

IMO LAWMAKERS
In the event some commissioner nominees fail to pass the screening of the Imo State House of Assembly, there are feelers that another list of nominees will be forwarded to the House by the executive.

A source told INNONEWS.COM that another supplementary list is underway. There was no independent confirmation of these claims as at press time, but a source confirmed that the present list of commissioner nominees sent to the House by Governor Rochas Okorocha are not having it rosy with the House members.
The House of Assembly had constituted a special committee to look at over 200 petitions that were submitted against the nominees. The number of petitions was said to have overwhelmed the lawmakers who directed that all commissioner  nominees should  appear before a special panel constituted by the House members to verify the authenticity or otherwise of the allegations contained in the petitions.

The petitions bordered on fraud, forgery, educational qualification and other mind boggling allegations.

One of the nominees is said to have over 13 petitions hanging on his neck. The aggrieved nominees were said to have revolted against the lawmakers accusing them of demanding for bribe before they are screened

However, the Majority leader of the Assembly, Hon Lugard Osuji had told this online newspaper that the House of Assembly is bent on conducting a thorough check on the nominees based on the number of the petitions they have received . He denied allegations of bribe leveled against his colleagues, saying their insistence on conducting a thorough screening is the sole reason responsible for the blackmail against them.

He confirmed that some of the nominees who have no skeletons in their cupboard have been screened by the House.
